So skip ahead right now and take a peek of what this is all about!
(Then you can come back… I’ll be waiting.)

The Road to Mastery

We’ve all heard about the 10,000 hours required to master a craft.
And getting better in an artistic field can be quite unclear, other than something like “dive deep into yourself and find inspiration”…

So, if you ever feel stuck in your progress or if you just want to do something different, then this is the roadmap you’ll want to come back to and find how to improve your main craft while doing something new!

Intro

While there is some theory that can be applied across the field of Visual Media, there are also individual fields that can be studied and applied on their own.
For instance, you can only focus on taking a photograph, without ever doing post-processing yourself; This could even get you a job, such as a journalistic photographer.
You could also do only post-processing and editing, without ever using a camera; That could get you a job such as a photo retoucher, or a web designer.

And there’s some learning that’s less technical, but which will help you manage a business, projects social connections.

Image Capture

This would be the act of taking your camera and getting a photo out of it.
It’s likely what most people see as “learning photography”.

And while there is some things that can be done in post-production,
a lot also has to be done before and during the time of taking the photograph.

Camera settings, lighting, composition, etc.
Knowing what to do once the camera is in your hand is what it means to be a photographer!

Image Production

“Art is in the eye of the beholder, and everyone will have their own interpretation.”

Why are you interested in photography?
Is it to communicate something, to evoke an emotion?
Then you might consider that what the viewer sees matters more than the process of creating the image.

I’ll then invite you

Complementary Skills

Finally, Human interaction, communications, and business management is also part of giving an image life… or part of getting the opportunity of getting an image in the first place.
